About Us

What Disciples Believe

Open Communion

The Lord’s Supper, or Communion, is celebrated in weekly worship and it is open to all.

The Oneness of the Church

All Christians are called to be one in Christ and to seek opportunities for common witness and service.

Freedom of Belief

As Disciples, we are called together around two essentials of faith: a belief in Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior, and that Christians are free to follow their conscience guided by the Bible, the Holy Spirit, study, prayer and are expected to extend that freedom to others.

Baptism by Immersion

In baptism, the self-centered life is set aside, washed away and a new life of trust in God begins. Although Disciples practice baptism by immersion, other baptism traditions are honored.

The Ministry of Believers

Both ordained ministers and lay persons lead in worship, service and spirited growth.

And above all that, Jesus Christ is the son of the Living God, who offers saving grace to all who seek it through the Son.

To Join Bethany

Those who want to join our congregation can do so by coming forward during the invitation hymn of any worship service, or by contacting the pastor beforehand to acknowledge a belief in Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior. Baptisms can be arranged if needed or desired.

The Prayer Chain

The prayer chain is activated when an urgent need for prayer arises. Anyone who has a prayer request may call his/her elder or the church office. The Prayer Chain is activated by the Minister, or the Elder on Call.

The prayer chain is divided into three columns, which will be numbered 1 through the last name. When you receive your call, please call the name (number) below yours. If the call is received by an answering machine, please leave a message and call the next name. If there is no answer, the next person should be called and the original person should be called later.

Our commitment will not be complete until we have spoken to another person who can facilitate the continuation of our prayer chain.
